ABOUT THE PROJECT
During the Out of Home Animation Workshop in the middle of nowhere, I created this experimental short film. We spent ten days in a lovely hut with limited electricity and therefore the analogue procedure of Cyanotype was a perfect fit to create the material for the film.
MAKiNG OF
The sun does most of the work since the light-sensitive solution on the paper will react and create the blue color. The white shadows result from cut-out paper and marker lines on transparent sheets that cover the surface. After exposing the paper to day light, the liquid is fixated with water and the paper is put out to dry in the sun – right next to the snoozing animator. This procedure is called lazy animation Cyanotype.
